The is a SAS/SATA single lane 2:1/1:2 multiplexer/demultiplexer plus redriver with equalization in 42 pin TQFN package. This active 2:1/1:2 multiplexer/demultiplexer equalizes and redrives SAS/SATA or SATA only signals up to 6Gbps and operates from single 3.3V supply. The MAX4986 has independent input equalization and output preemphasis. It enhances signal integrity at receiver by equalizing the signal at input and establishing preemphasis at output of the device. The SAS/SATA and SATA only out of band OOB signalling is supported using high speed amplitude detection on inputs and squelch on corresponding outputs. Inputs and outputs are internally 50 ohm terminated and must be AC coupled to SAS/SATA controller IC and SAS/SATA device.
