It only needs a voltage of at least 4.5 V while not exceeding 18 V to effectively power your circuit. With an adjustable output that has a voltage of 0.76 to 7 V, this is power management at its best. To produce a constant current at your output, supply your circuit with a load regulation of 100mV and line regulation of 25mV. You can operate this at a switching frequency of 700Typ kHz.
