The USB-COM232-PLUS1 module is a single channel USB to RS232 converter module. The module is designed to support USB communication with RS232 equipment. The USB-COM232-PLUS1 is based on the FTDI FT232R IC. The module features integrated electronics supporting full conversion from USB to RS232 signal levels with onboard level shifters. The module also features LEDs for power, TXD, RXD status indication. The integrated electronics of the USB-COM232-PLUS1 utilise the FTDI FT232R and includes RS232 level shifters plus TXD/RXD LEDs to provide a visual indication of data traffic through the module. The USB-COM232-Plus1 module requires USB device drivers, which are used to make the USB-COM232-Plus1 appear as a Virtual COM Port VCP. This allows existing serial communications software such as HyperTerminal to exchange data through the USB-COM232-Plus1 to a legacy RS232 peripheral device.
