Type EDL Electric Double Layer Capacitors provide a 15 year long life specifically used for battery back-up applications where memory hold-up is critical when battery replacement is necessary. The EDL capacitor is available in horizontal and vertical radial-leaded stacked coin configurations, a cylindrical case with radial leads, and a surface-mount package. The capacitors offer extremely high capacitance values farads from 0.22 F to 70 F with a voltage range of 2.1 Vdc to 5.5Vdc depending on the capacitance rating. The EDL provides unlimited charging and discharging capability and extends battery life up to 1.6 times longer. The EDL is a cut above the standard electrolytic capacitor in that it can act as a battery without having to deal with the environmental or hazardous material issues that batteries entail.
