加拿大标准CAN/ULC-S102与美国标准ASTM E84 测试方法相似。
ASTM E84测定一般建筑材料FSI，A类为0~25，B类为26~75，C类为76~200烟指数小于450(或根据ASTM D 对于硬质泡沫塑料，FSI应小于等于25(或ASTM D 2843方法小于等于75)，烟指数小于450。
与加拿大类似的方法 CAN/ULC-S 102隧道法。此外，我国小隧道炉法的行业标准也有ZBG 5100-2-85(防火涂料防火性能测试方法)，美国标准有ASTM E 69-50等。
